Despite the nationwide implementation of trade order regulations aimed at improving business organization and urban management, Zigoti Town Council has yet to fully roll out the directive.
According to the town council mayor, Bbule Muhammad, authorities are still in the process of organizing traders before enforcement begins.
He explained that the delay is intentional, allowing leaders to first create a structured environment that will accommodate all business operators.
“While trade order has already been implemented in many parts of the country, we are taking time to properly organize our traders so that when enforcement begins, it is done in a fair and orderly manner,” he said.
The mayor noted that the council is currently engaging stakeholders and identifying appropriate trading spaces to avoid disrupting livelihoods once the directive takes effect.
“We want to ensure that every trader has a designated place to operate from. This preparation is important so that the transition does not negatively affect people’s businesses,” he added.
Trade order regulations are designed to streamline business operations, reduce congestion in trading centers, and improve sanitation standards. However, local leaders emphasize that successful implementation depends on proper planning and cooperation between authorities and traders.
Once the ongoing preparations are complete, Zigoti Town Council is expected to formally enforce the regulations, aligning with broader national efforts to promote orderly and sustainable urban development.
